Frequent questions
How long does it take you to put together a proposal?
Depending on the size of the project, it could take between 2 to 6 weeks.
If my project is in a rural or remote area, will you take it on?
Yes, in almost all cases, especially with technology, we are open to take on projects even in the most rural locations, or fly-in communities.
Your past projects look large, will you do small scale projects?
A community relies on both large and small components of infrastructure to improve the quality of life of its community members. We are interested in any project that once built improves the functions of a community. Especially small scale projects on First Nations lands — don’t hesitate to reach out to us!
Your website says you are a Certified Aboriginal Business and 100% First Nation owned, will the project team be First Nation or Indigenous?
While in almost all cases the project lead will be First Nation, we strive to build capacity amongst the Indigenous professional community to include them on all our projects, but in some instances we realize it takes a community to build a community and so we are open to all individuals with the right attitude and experience.
I just need help with some grant and proposal writing, do you do this too?
Yes, at TOTEM, we are familiar with the various federal funding streams that exist for both housing and infrastructure projects — we are more than happy to assist you with accessing grants or loans through the various funding streams available out there. If it’s just simple proposal writing and submission packages, we can do that too.
Will you be licensed and insured when your work on my project?
Yes, TOTEM Builders Ltd., is a federally registered corporation with head office operations in British Columbia, but depending where your project is located, we will ensure we are properly licensed and insured to do business in the applicable authority having jurisdiction.
